Position Overview
The James L. Hamner Public Library is seeking a dynamic and community-focused Outreach Coordinator to expand the library’s presence and impact throughout Amelia County. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships, promoting library services, and delivering programs that engage diverse audiences, including underserved populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and implement outreach initiatives that promote library services, resources, and programs.
- Build and sustain partnerships with local schools, community organizations, businesses, and government agencies.
- Represent the library at community events, meetings, and public gatherings.
- Develop and deliver engaging programs for various age groups, including children, teens, and adults.
- Coordinate off-site library services such as pop-up libraries, mobile outreach, and special events.
- Plan and support library-hosted special events and community programs.
- Create marketing materials and assist with social media and public relations efforts.
- Track outreach activities and prepare reports to assess program effectiveness.
- Assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts related to outreach programming.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in community engagement, event planning, or public programming.
- Experience working in outreach for libraries.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and basic marketing tools.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for off-site events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a public library or nonprofit setting.
- Familiarity with Amelia County and surrounding communities.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
Work Schedule
This position may require occasional evenings and weekends to support community events and programs.

Position Overview
Act as Administrative Assistant to the Library Director
Key Responsibilities
- Answer phones and assist patrons or route calls
- Consolidate statistics and prepare reports in Microsoft Excel
- Correspondence
- Data entry
- Distribute Mail
- Establish and maintain records management system according to set retention schedules
- Filing, including creating/revising paper and digital filing system
- Maintain invoices log
- Perform circulation duties
- Perform programming duties as needed
- Process invoices and place them in Microsoft Excel log
- Process time sheets
- Schedule Meeting Room
- Assist library director as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- 18-years or older
- High School Diploma
- Ability to easily learn basic computer skills
- Demonstrated experience managing invoices and other purchasing paperwork
- Demonstrated experience creating computerized filing systems
- Demonstrated proficiency using MS Excel for financial data, including creating formulas
- Demonstrated proficiency using MS Word
- Records management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or trade school certificate
- Experience with full MS Office suit, Google Drive, and Dropbox
- Office management experience, particularly in a library
- Local government accounting.
