Hamner Library Board Members
The James L. Hamner Public Library Board of Trustees is a governing board of volunteers appointed by the Amelia County Board of Supervisors. The Trustees meet in the Hamner Meeting Room every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:00PM. Meeting agendas are posted at least a week before meetings, and minutes are posted after review and approval at the following board meeting.

Tom Hayghe is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and combat veteran who has called Amelia County home for over 20 years. He has more than 25 years of experience in financial services and technology and currently serves as a product management executive at Capital One. Tom has served on the James L. Hamner Public Library Board of Trustees for 8 years and believes a strong public library is an essential resource for education, opportunity, and community connection. Tom and his wife, Jennifer, live in Amelia County with their two daughters Genevieve and Colette.
Born and raised in Amelia, Virginia, Jody is proud to call this county home. Having spent many hours in the Hamner library during her formative years makes serving on the Board of Trustees a gratifying experience for her. Jody earned her bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and her master’s degree from Longwood University. After teaching for several years, she chose to homeschool her children, embracing the opportunity to be actively involved in their education and growth. Jody is grateful for the opportunity to serve her community through the James L. Hamner Public Library. She is excited to be part of a place that encourages learning, connection, and lifelong discovery.
